Veterinarian
Dr. Richard Kappen has been a practicing veterinarian for more than 20 years. He grew up in Vestavia Hills and attended Auburn University to study Animal and Dairy Sciences. After working as a dairy farmer for many years, Dr. Kappen returned to Auburn University for vet school and has worked with small animals and livestock during his career.
He is particularly proud of the accomplishments of his daughter, Laura, a registered nurse, and his wife, Carla. The Kappens are known for rescuing animals in need and enjoy gardening and hanging out with their four-legged family members Phoebe, Aslan, Willow and Q-bie.
